Last night I was apart of a Leadership Mastermind series lead by Ray Higdon and this was not just all about Network Marketing Leadership, but this was an informational leadership series that truly showed you how to become a TRUE leader and to position yourself and the people that surround you with the principles that will take you places. I would like to break down the word L.E.A.D.E.R because so many people use it loosely that it just rolls off the tounge, and many of us (including myself) are not doing what Leaders should do.

Leadership is not a Sexy Topic like “Make your first Million while you Sleep on the couch“. Many people would be attracted to that headline and just jump all over it, but the topic of Leadership is boring and nobody truly see’s the kind of work you have to put in behind the scenes for years in order to make a difference in other people’s lives. Leadership is not about a “TITLE” because anyone can be appointed a title, and its unfortunate that many of us get caught up with titles and equate those to Leadership. Honestly, anyone from any position can become a Leader in any industry and in any home. When you influence someone be it for Bad or Good, (hope its good) you are a Leader believe it or not.
Here are 5 things that you MUST do in order to increase your Leadership value with others;
- Go to Lunch – Sounds funny doesn’t it? If you admire someone and truly want to become a person of value that others will look up to and want to emulate, then you need to take the person/s that you would like to emulate out to lunch, just ask them out. It does not matter if this person is in your industry or not, as long as they embody the traits that you want to portray, then you need to ask them out to lunch and speak with them, ask them questions and make sure you take lots of notes.
- Become a servant – You absolutely must become a servant. I look back to the bible days when Jesus was born, what better leadership role model can you emulate better than Jesus himself. He was born in a manger with animals and nothing fancy, just a plan old stable. People came from near and far to see him, but yet he was the most humble servant you could imagine. Remember, Jesus got down on his knees and washed the feet of his disciples one by one. He did not put anyone above himself.
- Spend time with future leaders – You must show your commitment level and your dedication to others in your network, you have to spend time with them. Do you have weekly conference calls for your team? Do you meet regularly with key Leaders? Do you hold one on one training’s with others and help them in their weak areas and also help them develop more in their strong areas? You will have to drive, fly, and it will cost you, but how much will it cost you if you don’t sow into others lives?
- Stop thinking it’s all about you – It’s not all about you all of the time. Many title leaders get caught up in the fact that they are the top dog and it’s all about them. Actually you are only as good or great as your team. When you look at any team or organization, there are others in that group that are more efficient and better equipped to lead that you are. So the ego of thinking its all about you should cease, it’s not about you and what you can do, it’s about all the other people in the organization.
- Train the trainer – You must have systems in place to take that future leader and develop them to the next level of Leadership which is training others on how to become leaders.
- Read Leadership books together
- Go on team outings
- Get together, and have fun as a team
- Get to know them and their family on a deeper level
- Show how much you truly care
- Sow into their lives with things passed on to you.
- Share GOD’s leadership principles.
- Setup a success Game plan
- Put in the work
- Document your success and failures
If you continue to build upon what you learn daily and focus on others, you will find yourself followed by so many people who truly and genuinely want to follow you. Not Title Leadership..
Question: How do you Lead? What are some things you need to work on?
