The Glass Ceiling

Which side of the glass are you on? Are you looking up at the footprints of others walking about and claiming their stake on the earth. Or are you at the top looking down at where you were or what could have been which another missed opportunity. The glass ceiling can mean anything in any situation, for you it may be totally different from what it was intended.

What’s your glass ceiling and what’s holding you back from achieving total success? Do you dread Monday mornings and Love Friday’s when you get to relax for the weekend? If your glass ceiling is any of the following you need to continue to read on. Here are the top 5 things that most people get hung up on.

  1. Your Job
  2. Relationships
  3. Money
  4. Time
  5. Freedom

Your Job - You have totally always wanted to become the leader of the pack. When you first got the position you were so fired up that you would just bust through walls to get things done. NOW! After 5 years working for one company you are over worked and underpaid. Don you feel trapped? The hours are long and isn’t lunch time 2hrs instead of 1?

Relationships - Your either searching for your soul mate or your soul mate is someone else’s mate. If your personal relationships are not going well, this could contribute to stress, loss of sleep, loose of weight and you are just constantly drained.

Money - This is the hurdle that broke the camels back. Money is what makes the world go around. Those who have been programmed to think that money is evil are incorrect, because it is written in the Bible that the ” LOVE” of money is the root to all evil.

Time – You just don’t have enough time in the day to do everything you need to do. Where did all the time go?

Freedom - Your currently tied down to a Just Over Broke and you don’t have any freedom to do what you want in life. Isn’t my life wasting away?

So how do you break through the glass ceiling?

That all begins with CHANGE/PRACTICE

Most people are against CHANGE and won’t ever change. Something could make so much common sense to them but they just fail to CHANGE which leave them in the same position that they were 5 years ago. Do you ever run into people who always have the same everything? It’s because lack of time right? No it’s because most people are not going to do what it takes to change, therefore they settle for mediocrity.

Do you think it takes PRACTICE to become great at something. Remember if you do something for 21 days straight it will become a habit. Lets take a look at sports. In sports, you start playing from you are almost 3 or 4 years old or older for some. They continue to play until they are adult men. How MANY years of practice do you think it took to perfect their craft?

If you are truly looking to break the glass ceiling, you have to decide to make some drastic changes, and these changes will require you to become uncomfortable. Things that you would never have normally done, you have to complete. If you treat your life casually it might end up a Casualty!

What ground do you stand on? Where do you Stand?

Good points Lincoln- Being willing to change certainly is crucial to seeing improvements in life. We can whine and complain or we can be the change we want to see.

It is also about attitude and being content with where you are. If you can’t find joy and contentment with what you have, you never will. It doesn’t matter how much money you have, your status, or whatever- life is more than stuff.

Building a solid foundation on Christ will sustain you no matter what happens in life.

Thanks for these pointers, I hope it helps us all remember to not get stuck in ruts!

Kimanzi, I love your passion for what you do and how you push through all adversity. Radically changing is what it’s all about. Staying in the same ho hum situation can be discouraging. It’s all about change and leading like Christ. Thanks for blessing me with your comments.
