Install WordPress in 5 minutes or less and generate Leads for Business

Unable to display content. Adobe Flash is required.

If you don’t know I play on the Internet all day long. Its my business, and had previously been my job for over 10 years. I was asked by a friend of mine how I put together my website and it was really not that difficult at all. So I decided that I was going to do a 3 or 4 part series on how to get WordPress installed and configured to look good and take leads for your business. Are you ready?

Now for some of you this may be very trivial because you have already installed WordPress and it’s rocking for you now. However everyday someone new is wanting to get online to capture leads for their business. And how exactly do you do that when you don’t have a Web Infrastructure background like I did? This series is for you.

Now this video picks up at the step of already having a hosting account and a domain and you are ready to install WordPress. However, if you don’t have a Domain name or hosting you can do that all in one step with Blue Host. Here are the steps;

  1. Go to www. Bluehost.com and register for an account.Bluehost Signup

  2. If you don’t have a domain like (www.lincolnparks.com) there will be a slot to enter your name when signing up. If you already have a domain registered with someone else like Godaddy.com then make sure you specify that also.WordPress signup
  3. Next you will go through and pay and you should be ready to go after that.

So now go to the video and you should be able to see how WordPress is installed and in the remaining parts of this series you will see the following; In my line of business capturing Leads, dripping emails on them consistently and teaching, training via video and email is critical to my success or failure.

  1. How to install a Theme and configure it.
  2. How to configure your blog to capture Leads.
  3. How to configure mailchimp for Lead capture.

Keep in mind, I am not a graphics guy that can make things look pretty, but I can make them functional. So I hope you enjoy this little weekend series on WordPress and blogging and that it does not bore you.

Question: What advice can you offer to a new blogger? What keeps you blogging?

While I have a wordpress site, I didn’t do it myself. I’m going to forward this to a friend of mine who needs it.
I think blogging is like everything else in life; you gotta do it with passion and perseverance. When we do it for and before God, we leave the destination up to Him. We follow with peace and joy…

Absolutely Floyd, if you don’t have passion for it, it will just fade away like everything else.

Setting up a blog is surprisingly easy. And I would encourage people to just get started and figure it out as you go. It’s way too easy to worry about the little details and all the minutiae about collecting leads, SEO, plugins, etc. You’ll figure that stuff out as you go. Just get going.

I agree Loren, once you start learning all the plugins that can help with Keywords and lead generation you start having fun. You do figure out allot as you go along.

Great post. A friend set up all my sites with WordPress a couple of years ago. I’ve since learned a lot about WP. It’s great to know how easy it is to install if I decide to set up another site in the future.

Hey Dan, yes its not very hard at all. The web hosting companies have made it super simple. I remember when they did not have all these fancy one click tools and you had to upload the files, create the database with tables from scratch. Its a lost art, but the control panels make things so easy.

It wasn’t a breezy process for me unfortunately..lol. But once done, i looked back and thought ‘that wasn’t so bad after all’. I think my challenge was moving the site from the former one and trying to get everything to look good in the new site as not everything translated properly. Setting up from scratch might be easier? Anyways I am super glad for a supportive community, including you, that chipped in and helped me with tonnes of advice. great post!

I think you did exceptionally well Ngina. I agree starting from scratch is way easy. You did one of the hardest tasks and your blog is absolutely awesome.

I’ve had my struggles getting everything the way I want it – but yes, it is easy and everyone who wants to should go for it. The barriers are really gone, it is cheap and easy!

Absolutely Tom, its not really that difficult anymore. I think more people are afraid just to pull the trigger.

This is very helpful. I wrote an entire series about this very subject. It’s amazing what modern technology and social media has and is doing for business.

I remember your series Kimanzi, it was an awesome one at that. We should have tons of resources now in this community.

I don’t desire to move to wordpress right now, but if I ever do I will definitely be needing this info. Thanks for taking the time to share your skill and knowledge. God bless!
