Being an Entrepreneur is not Easy, just better

Black_Enterprise_Elevator_Lincoln (1)

For me. Being an Entrepreneur in many aspects can be rewarding and scary at the same time because you are not secured to your every 2 week check that many think is so safe and will continue to come every 2 weeks. It’s actually the Riskiest place to be in right now because you have your hands solely depending on someone else to pay you. Are you living check to check? Or maybe check behind the check? Ask yourself this question.. If I was laid off today, what would I do for income?

Would you;

1. Look for another job?

2. Go on Government assistance?

3. Explore Entrepreneur opportunities?

Why would you choose the one you chose?

I say this all the time, if it were not for someone tapping me on the shoulder many years ago asking me to take a look at a Profession that could possibly be a career for me, I would not be in the position that I am in today. Don’t get me wrong, living as an Entrepreneur (Network Marketer) is not easy, but I would not trade it in for the world. I dared enough to earn additional while I was on my job. How could that help you?

For me, it fits my style;

God has afforded me the ability to drop my daughter to school daily and you don’t know how powerful that is for ME.

God affords me the ability to pick up my daughter from school daily at 2:45 and you don’t know how powerful that is for ME.

God has afforded me a wife that is understanding and loving, and cares about our success, and you don’t know how powerful that is for ME.

God has afforded me the ability to connect with others and show them, there IS another profession that could allow you to live your wildest dreams, and its ok for ME.

God has afforded me the ability to now live a passionate life for him because before I was neglecting him, and I was stressed, its good for ME.

What I do is not for everyone, but it may be for YOU. I love Leadership, I love learning, I love helping others, I love my life. Do I struggle sometimes and get frustrated absolutely I do. But do I ever question myself as to why I do what I do? Absolutely not…

Do I care what others think of me? Absolutely not, because being an Entrepreneur is not Easy, it’s just better for ME and maybe you. Don’t limit your beliefs to a Profession because you have preconceived notions. Once you see that there are professionals out there in Network Marketing that make a living from it, and are honest and God-fearing maybe you might think twice.

My goal this year is to help others see this Profession for what it is.. Easy to get into, and Easy to get out of. It’s a volunteer army of people who want more for their lives and some of them start as;

Posers – They have no belief and blame everyone and the system for their failure.

Amateurs – They believe and have seen some success in Network Marketing, and are on their way to greatness.

Professionals – You have spent over 4 years in the industry and have changed thousands of lives by your one decision. You believe in the industry and could care less what others think. You are a winner and others follow you voluntarily.

Question: Do you feel you are effectively using the talents God has given you right now?

    I like you, have been blessed to be independent in my work. It does come at a cost. The buck stops with us, but you and I are those type of people that want the ball in our hands with the seconds ticking off the clock. Win or lose we want the last shot. That mentality is hard to teach, my friend. I’m encouraged every time I see it. It re-inspires me. Thanks, Lincoln.

      I already knew you were someone that God had connected me to Floyd. I agree we are just alike and your writing style resonates with me. Thanks for the words you speak here because they inspire me to do more. God shines through you.

    Praise God for the blessings in your life! It is wonderful to hear of how God blesses His children who seek to use their talents to help others and point others to Him.

    A few years ago I quite working to become a home maker and to use my talents of writing. It has brought more blessings than I could have ever imagined. While I’m not a published author (yet) I am learning and meeting new people all the time. It’s wonderful!

    I like the title of this post – being an entrepreneur is not easy, it’s just simply better. Profound. Employed or self-employed, everyone faces tough days. It makes better sense, if God has called you, to face and defeat your own giants, on your turf. I prefer slaying my own giants than slaying them on behalf of a boss (and there’s nothing wrong with it, if that’s what God has called you to).
    You are a blessing and encouragement Lincoln. I love your passion, your dream to build God’s Kingdom.

      You said something there Ngina. If God has called you. Just like when Jesus was calling his disciples he called them to now fish for people. They had regular jobs, and they were not perfect, but now their focus would be on God. He has to call you and place it on your heart.

      • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

        Yep. i long realized that we can’t all be entrepreneurs – we need consumers :)

          Absolutely!

    Great post. I know what it is to believe that the every 2 weeks check was safe until they decided we needed to part ways. I quickly realized the every 2 weeks check coming from someone else is not safe. I was really encouraged from your examples of picking up and dropping off your daughter at school. I am working harder and strategically to become self-employed. I am like Floyd I want the ball in my hands to take the last shot. I don’t want to defer to someone else. Lincoln thanks for your passion and commitment.

      Its not safe Bernard, but saving for this a rainy day or making provisions in a part-time business can help drastically. Just do what you are passionate about. It has and must be focused around God however.

    Good reminder for all of us to think about what we would do if the paychecks stopped. Best advice is to have some $$ in the bank to give you TIME and OPTIONS for when that happens (and these days, it can happen to ANYONE). Glad you are following your dreams!

    • http://www.lincolnparks.com/ Lincoln Parks

      Absolutely Tom, you definitely need to have extra just in case, I did when I was laid off which was unexpected but since I was building my business I was prepared. I listened to the advice of David Bach when he said build a business on the side so that you can put away extra if that is your desire. Absolutely great advice Tom!

    While working on my platform yes at work not necessarily. Still looking for a job that would better match my passions and talents. Great thoughts!

    • http://www.lincolnparks.com/ Lincoln Parks

      Dan your platform will be the Job you are looking for. You are building it successfully and once you launch into your own platform, it will be your Job.

      • http://danblackonleadership.com/ Dan Black

        That’s my dream/plan. Thanks you so much for all your support.

    As an entrepreneur, I can tell you that the lifestyle is not the easiest. But I love the freedom that it gives me – just like you mention. I’m blessed to be able to work from home, so it’s nice to spend a few minutes of the day with my family if I go up to get coffee. Of course, I don’t believe the entrepreneurship is for everyone – I think it takes a certain personality type.
