5 points of clarity I found during my morning run

I found these 5 points of Clarity when Jogging.

Clarity in a busy world filled with demands and expectations can really throw you for a loop. This morning I was struggling to meet deadlines and goals to write, teach, train, and recruit but I just couldn’t so I decided to go for a run for clarity. During the run, I gathered 5 points that can also help you with your clarity.

Colossians 3:23-24 – Work willingly at whatever you do, as through you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the master you are serving is Christ.

I was really struggling this morning to find clarity and I know we all face that, we have the demands of family, our businesses or jobs for others, our friends pulling us in different directions and you wanting to stay ahead of the curb so to speak, or that may just be me. I know as an Entrepreneur I need to make sure that I am focused at all times because each day, hour, minute and down to the second that I spend doing something, if it’s not worth my time I am going to have to say no, but it has been hard for me to say no for some reason.

I could not think on what I wanted to write today so I went for a Jog for clarity so that I can clear my mind and focus. There were 5 things that I discovered on my jog that lead to massive clarity and started my creative juices flowing again.

  1. I don’t have to be on anyone’s schedule – As I was jogging I realized that I was not on anyone else’s timeline but God and my own. I was not wrapped up in trying to please someone else so that they could like me, or to pretend to like someone just so I would not get fired. Even if you are on a job, you need to know that your lunch break, or breaks in between can be used as Your Scheduled time.
  2. You need quiet time – I realized that even at home, the washer and dryer may be clanging, my wife on a conference call in the other room or my iPhone buzzing from a Facebook post, or a team member or prospect calling for more info on what I do.
  3. Music will inspire you – I’m not sure about you but Music inspires me and I had Pandora cranking to my favorite music that makes me relax.
  4. Someone giving you encouragement is needed – We all need encouragement and I found that my Nike running app gave me inspiration along the journey. Keep going it said, you are .25 miles from your best run yet.
  5. You have to celebrate every success – When I was done, luckily I was the only person out there. I was fist bumping myself, throwing my hands in the air, and punching the wind. You would have thought I was crazy. However, we must celebrate everything we do and others do.

Question: In what ways do you find clarity besides God of course?

This is a timely post because I just tweeted this yesterday: “A 3 mile walk in nature typically leads to 1-2 strong blog ideas.” While I was walking, I listened to one of my favorite pastors, which generated 2 new blog topics that I quickly noted in my phone. Usually my best ideas hit me when I’m away from it all, enjoying nature or exercising.

Chris, I was so clouded this morning that I just had to get out and clear my mind. Wow, what a coincidence on the post. I need to go check out your post. I did get allot of content also when jogging, its so serene and calm. Can’t wait to read your posts that were inspired by your nature walk.

It is crucial to get encouragement from other people. Knowing that we’re not “running this race” alone helps us to keep up the pace.

Encouragement is key, I know just the little whispering from the Nike App kept pushing me to go on and on. I can’t believe I was able to go as far as I did.

Definitely time alone and for me it specifically clarity hits me when I ponder what to write and how to present it. It takes me in a deeper thought process and that is a healing process. I’m with you on all of these good points. Nice call.

Time alone is priceless Floyd. There is no substitute for it because it allows you to truly connect with God and yourself. No wonder why Jesus would always do it.

Holding my son brings clarity. It reminds of what’s eternal, precious and worth working for. All the small things/cares of the world fade as I hold him and realize he is more valuable than all my possessions. My love for him reminds me of how much God loves us. It’s mind blowing, liberating and humbling. For God so loved the world…

What could be better than holding your son. The only thing I can think of is God sending his son. Clarity comes when things are simple yet powerful.

I enjoy talking with my husband..he has a ‘cut through’ kind of mind that gives me lots of ‘aha’ moments. I enjoy walking and running, though right now it’s too cold outide :) . Nothing brings more clarity than being away from a typical environment.

Can’t beat that Ngina. Its something about walking and running that kick starts everything.

I rely on music, reading, and taking time to reflect to clarify and even bring energy and motivation to me. I’m being more intentional about going for walks to pray and think. It’s a win win because I’m working out and also connecting with God and thinking. Great post bro!

Dan music is powerful. The music I was listening to was absolutely powerful during my run. So much clarity and thoughts running through my mind. It actually inspired me to do more. You are doing two things at once, the walk is awesome and praying is a must. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Yes it is. I just read The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson and what a great book. It challenges me in the area of prayer. I highly recommend it.

        • http://www.lincolnparks.com/ Lincoln Parks

Recommendation noted and taken. I will because I too need to get better at prayer.

            Then you must read it.
