As some of you know I am currently on a 90 day success run with my Network Marketing organization. Our team is focusing on helping so many people earn a part-time or full-time living or create the lifestyle they want to live from home and that includes myself and everyone committed to this journey in the next 90 days. On my vacation with my wife and daughter, I had some real leadership decisions to make over the past few days. As bloggers we all have that dream Job or Platform that we are building and working toward and the journey can be hard and daunting, but as Leaders we need to make hard decisions.
Last week and into this week I was in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Diego and Hollywood. Our company was holding its quarterly National Convention where all the leaders and partners in the company come together for Leadership training, knowledge sharing and team building in order to help grow our businesses to the next level. The conference has started on Wednesday of the previous week and ran through the weekend, but because of my full-time job I was unable to attend when I needed to for my other team members that were already there. However, I needed to make a decision not to go at that time.
What I decided to do was to take my family with me because all that I am doing part-time for my business I am doing for them. I love to teach, and help others reach their potential via the vehicle we have our hands on, but I could not leave my family and fly cross-country without them. So my first Leadership decision was to (Bring my family with me). While we were in Los Angeles I had to wake up early Saturday morning to go meet our team and fellowship with some the Leaders that made the trip, and I was faced with another decision. Do I leave my family alone in Los Angeles that day and drive to Las Vegas to attend the conference?
This was not a long decision after I woke my wife at 4am in the morning to let her know that I was going to be with the team. We prayed about it and discussed it for a few minutes and knowing how passionate I am about my business and for the purpose of what we came for, we both decided it was best that I go to be with our other Leaders that also made the track from the East coast to the West Coast. It took sacrifice and dedication, but when you think about leaving your wife and daughter alone in a Hotel over 4 and a half hours away, it was gut wrenching. Nevertheless, we both decided that we need to make things happen in a big way and Showing up is one of them.
So on my drive through the California and Nevada mountains that morning at 5am, I had a lot of time to think about these decisions as a Leader;
- As a Leader you must make tough decisions – Not all of your decisions as a leader will be easy to make. There are some that you just need to get down on your knees and pray about.
- As a Leader you must Show up – Many individuals that claim to be Leaders, never show up. When pressed with serious decisions to show up for your team, you must show up. How can you Lead if you are not present?
- As a Leader you MUST pray – This can’t be said enough that you must pray about the decisions that you intend to make and where you feel God is leading you. These decisions will grow you, and turn you into another person.
Question: What Lessons have you learned when faced with tough decisions?
